The Lemon Detox Diet

While the real inner cleansing is performed by the body itself, the lemon detox drink fulfills essential functions: It provides the nutrients needed for the body's functioning, helps to support the biochemical balance in tissues and cells and assisting cell regeneration. It is assimilated straight into the bloodstream, placing no additional load on the digestion. It provides a liquid medium necessary for the efficient flushing of toxins from the body. The acidity of lemon juice helps the detox, acting like a detergent to break up unnecessary fats and the cayenne pepper or ground ginger assists in speeding up the metabolism, thus boosting circulation and the elimination of toxins.

The Maple syrup contained in the lemon detox drink is rich in sugar. This serves as the source of energy and assists in controlling hunger. The lemon detox drink has been proven to be rich in zinc and calcium which are very essential for the cleansing action. Also lemons, cayenne pepper and natural tree syrup are recognized as foods which promote the release of toxins from our body.

Cleansing the body is certainly attractive, but the weight loss aspect of the diet is what draws much more attention to it. Can the lemon detox diet help your body to achieve its optimum weight? Is the lemon detox actually healthy for you and something that can be successfully maintained? Well you'll just have to decide that for yourself.

Remember that it is really uneasy to jump into normal food soon after the lemon detox dieting. The shift back to normal food has to be slow. So after the lemon detox diet, you will have to increase your normal food intake step by step, start with fruit juice and light food. Then try to step back to normal food slowly. Though the lemon detox diet is easy to follow, it might not be safe for unskilled dieters. Also it's good idea to discuss it with your physician before you start the lemon detox diet.

Lemon Detox Diet - Safe and Effective

The lemon detox diet is famous fad diet, but is it safe and effective? Yes! It is. A lemon detox diet is safe and effective for both cleansing and weight loss.

Consuming anything sour makes the liver and gallbladder move off stored toxins. The liver is a key for weight loss and overall health. When the liver is occupied with toxins, it cannot do its vital tasks in metabolizing fat. So that is why it is necessary to keep your liver in good shape.

The lemon detox diet is based on the mix of syrup from organic trees that contain the sap of five different trees. These trees include; the maple tree, and four other varieties of a palm tree. These saps are 100% natural, with no additives. The addition of water, juice of a fresh lemon, sea salt and cayenne pepper initiate the detoxification process. Also lemon juice supplies the body with a good dose of vitamin C.

The reason why the lemon detox diet is so famous and provides better result than other detox diets is because it uses lemons as the main detox agent. Lemon is one of the cheapest and strongest alkalizing nutrients. The water keeps you hydrated, the pepper boosts your metabolism, the lemon juice cleanses toxins in your body and the maple syrup provides some energy and also makes the mixture little more tasty to drink.

It’s important not to plan a lemon detox diet for a time of year when you'll need a lot of energy, if you’re doing lemon detox because you want to lose weight for your birthday, plan it for a 50 days before, not the 2 weeks before it! Try to get lots of rest while you are fasting, feel free to go for walks, garden, or do other activities that helps to relax you. The lemon detox diet isn’t easy, but stick to it and you'll get many benefits.

Before You Start Lemon Detox Diet

Before You Start Lemon Detox DietThe lemon detox diet is a great way to get rid of toxins from your body, and while weight loss is not often the highest-billed benefit on lemon detox, it usually lurks somewhere in your mind. A lot of people say, 'I'm doing the master cleanse for detox,' but it really is for weight-loss purposes.

Weight-loss is predictable when you feed yourself only liquid. But when you cut your calorie intake, your body teaches itself to get by with less fuel, meaning metabolism slows down. Once you start to slow your metabolism down, you have felt yourself weak. The main idea of Lemon Detox Diet is to allow the digestive system to rest, and gives the body a chance to reset itself staying active and lively at the same time.

To achieve these goals and help your body get rid of toxins, you should make lifestyle choices that will strengthen the detox tools your body came equipped with naturally before lemon detox diet. The body is constantly cleansing itself of toxins through the digestive and respiratory systems, and through the skin.

If you want to eliminate waste from your body, eat foods high in fiber like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and cooked dried beans, drink enough fluid so that your urine is colorless and odorless after your first urine in the morning

It is also important to stay away from things that will weaken your body's detox abilities. That means keeping your liver healthy by not drinking too much alcohol and avoiding high-fat foods. Regular exercise also helps, since sweat allows the body to release toxins.

7 tips for weight loss and fat burning

7 tips for weight loss and fat burningCombine these seven tips with 30 minutes of aerobic activity five or six days a week, within just a week you should start feeling healthier and your clothes will be looser. By week two, you will be dropping pounds.

1. Drink lemon juice with warm water every morning. Starting the day with the juice of a lemon in a glass of warm water will stimulate your digestive system. Water is also crucial to weight loss. Water aids healthy digestion and the elimination of waste, so make sure you drink six to eight glasses a day. Alcohol should be limited to one small glass of wine a day, and keep coffee and tea to a minimum. Avoid fizzy drinks and sweetened fruit juices.

2. Eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. All vegetables and most fruits are low-calorie nutritional powerhouses, rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber and nutrients that can boost immunity, balance hormones, calm the nervous system, aid digestion and help weight loss.

3. Balance your blood sugar levels. Irritability, poor concentration, fatigue and headaches are all symptoms of fluctuating blood sugar levels, which can make you crave sweet and fattening foods. When blood sugar levels swing too high, so does insulin. This hormone helps shuttle blood sugar (glucose) into your cells to be used as energy. In other words, it promotes fat storage.

Sprinkling lemon juice over your meal can be enough to lower the blood sugar impact by as much as 30 per cent - use it in all your cooking. Using peel in cooking helps ensure the sugar is released steadily into your bloodstream. Add peel to soups and salads, and sprinkle on fish and chicken. Lemons are also a fantastic source of fiber.

4. Cut down on sugar-rich foods. This give you a brief high followed by a big slump, and leave you feeling edgy and tired. Refined foods - such as white bread, white rice, instant potatoes and cornflakes - can act like sugar in your system, and end up being stored as fat. Instead, stick to whole grain, fruit, vegetables and protein.

Natural sugars in fruit can hit your bloodstream fast; so don't eat a piece of fruit without a handful of nuts or seeds to slow the impact. Beware of artificial sweeteners as they can increase sugar cravings.

5. Forgot low fat - your body needs some fat to lose weight. Unsaturated fats can help with weight loss by delaying the passage of carbohydrates into your bloodstream, keeping blood sugar levels stable and insulin down.

Avoid saturated fats - found in red meat, cakes and pastries - and trans-fatty acids in processed foods. These are low in nutrients and can increase your risk of heart disease and obesity. Increase your consumption of omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids found in nuts, seeds and oily fish, and unsaturated fat found in extra virgin olive oil.

6. Eat lots of fresh whole foods. Switch from processed to whole foods to boost your intake of the nutrients your body needs for weight loss. Whole foods such as beans, pulses and lentils also contain fiber, which stimulates the digestive system and can slow down the conversion of carbohydrates into glucose.

Best of all, whole foods are free of hidden sugar and chemicals that overload your liver, making it hard for your body to digest food and burn fat. Choose brown pasta, wholegrain bread and cereals, vegetables, fruit, fresh soups, smoothies and fresh juices, and eat a salad with every meal.

7. Slow things down. Eat slowly and chew properly. Chewing relaxes the lower stomach muscle and triggers nerve messages that activate the digestive process. If food is not properly chewed, nutrients remain locked in and undigested. Keep portions moderate, and eat at regular times. If you find you are still hungry, wait 20 minutes for your brain to catch up with your stomach and recognize that you are full.

Your stomach and intestines are sensitive to stress. When you feel anxious, digestion will shut down, leaving food partially digested. So finding ways to manage stress is not only important for your emotional health, but your digestive health, too.

Top 10 Detox Foods

There's no better time to give your body a healthy, fresh start! If you're thinking about lowering your weight eating healthy food is a great first step. Add these 10 foods to your menu and you'll get three excellent benefits:

- Lots of super-healthy liquids to flush out the body while pouring in nutrients.

- Fiber to keep your GI tract fit.

- Foods that energize cleansing enzymes in the liver, your body's built-in detox center.

The TOP 10

Green leafy vegetables

Eat them raw, throw them into a broth, add them to juices. Their chlorophyll helps swab out environmental toxins (heavy metals, pesticides) and protects the liver.

Lemons

You need to keep the fluids flowing to wash out the body and fresh lemonade is ideal. Its vitamin C, considered the detox vitamin, helps convert toxins into a water-soluble form that's easily flushed away.

Watercress

Put a handful into salads, soups, and sandwiches. The peppery little green leaves have a diuretic effect that helps move things through your system. And cress is rich in minerals too.

Garlic

Add it to everything -- salads, sauces, spreads. In addition to the bulb's cardio benefits, it activates liver enzymes that help filter out junk.

Green tea

This antioxidant-rich brew is one of the healthiest ways to get more fluids into your system. Bonus: It contains catechins, which speed up liver activity.

Broccoli sprouts

Get 'em at your health-food store. They pack 20 to 50 times more cancer-fighting, enzyme-stimulating activity into each bite than the grown-up vegetable.

Sesame seeds

They're credited with protecting liver cells from the damaging effects of alcohol and other chemicals. For a concentrated form, try tahini, the yummy sesame seed paste that's a staple of Asian cooking.

Cabbage

There are two main types of detoxifying enzymes in the liver; this potent veggie helps activate both of them. Coleslaw, anyone?

Psyllium

A plant that's rich in soluble fiber, like oat bran, but more versatile. It mops up toxins (cholesterol too) and helps clear them out. Stir powdered psyllium into juice to help cleanse your colon, or have psyllium-fortified Bran Buds for breakfast.

Fruits, fruits, fruits

They're full of almost all the good things above: vitamin C, fiber, nutritious fluids, and all kinds of antioxidants. Besides, nothing tastes better than a ripe mango, fresh berries, or a perfect pear.

24 hour Lemon Juice Detox

24 hour Lemon Juice DetoxThe 24 hour detox concentrates on foods and practices that can help boost your nutrient intake and cleanse your body of toxins naturally. To ensure your detox is nutritionally sound, the plan will involve drinking plenty of lemon juice with water; it will also involve regular snacks of fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds.

Rather than starving you of nutrients, which would just cause your blood sugar levels and your mood to sink really low, you will be eating plenty of cleansing, natural foods and drinking lots of water to support your body's own in-house detox system, which is so effective that even the most complex detox product can't compete with it.

As you follow the 24 hour plan, never forget that healthy eating to lose weight has nothing to do with dieting - we know that diets don't work in the long term - but everything to do with giving your body the best nutrition it can get. So, for the next 24 hours, and hopefully for the rest of your life, you are going to give yourself the very best, top-quality, premium-grade fuel.

The basis for this detox diet is four glasses of fresh lemonade, lots of water and regular meals and snacks that are as fresh, natural and healthy as possible. Not only will it give you all the nutrients you need to expel toxins naturally and revitalise your digestive system without feeling hungry, you can also lose a minimum of 600 grams to 1 kilo, depending on your height and body weight.

Making your lemonade

To make your lemonade you will need:
2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice (approximately 1⁄2 to 1 lemon)
300 ml (10 fl oz) pure, filtered water (according to taste)
1 tsp organic grade B maple syrup (optional) or a cinnamon stick
Small pinch of cayenne pepper

Mix together the lemon juice, water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Stir well and serve slightly warm at room temperature. As an alternative to maple syrup you could stir a cinnamon stick into your lemon juice.

Research has shown that cinnamon can help balance blood sugar and, if you like the taste, it's a fantastic way to add some sweetness. Use only fresh lemons, organic and vine ripened whenever possible. Never use canned or frozen lemon juice. Mix your lemonade just before drinking. You can, however, squeeze your lemons in the morning and measure out the 2 tablespoons when needed.

The pinch of cayenne pepper adds a zing to the flavour, as well as some stimulating warmth, which speeds cleansing and elimination. Some studies show that the capsaicin in cayenne pepper may increase the body's production of heat for a short time. It may also help to regulate blood sugar levels by affecting the breakdown of carbohydrates after a meal. Based on these studies, capsaicin is being investigated to see if it can be useful in treating obesity.

The grade B maple syrup (grade A is over-processed and refined) adds a sweet taste for those who find the drink too bitter, and a welcome shot of zinc and magnesium to help regulate your appetite and further boost fat metabolism.

Your lemon juice detox day: step by step

On this one day you will take in enough calories to keep your metabolism running efficiently as well as a host of wholesome and healthy nutrients. Moreover, your body will have 24 hours in which to rid itself of the toxins absorbed by overindulgence, or simply through daily life (stress, pollution and processed food products). You should not follow this detox diet for more than one day a week as it is not effective as a general everyday diet. It is, however, highly effective as a cleansing pick-me-up to boost your digestion and get you started on the road to weight loss.

It's best to do this detox on a Saturday or Sunday or on a day when you aren't working and bound by your normal routine; then you'll have time to relax and take your time cooking, preparing and eating your food.

Throughout the day

Make sure you drink at least six to eight glasses of filtered water with added lemon peel. You shouldn?t feel any hunger pangs. If you do, drink more water or herbal teas, or have a banana with a handful of mixed seeds or a bowl of warm vegetable soup that isn't high in sodium, additives or preservatives (homemade soup is probably your best option).

First thing

Try to get up around 7.30 in the morning if you can, and on rising, drink your first glass of lemonade. It's probably best to drink it slightly warm, as cold water first thing in the morning is a shock to the system and can create gas and bloating. Wait at least half an hour until you eat breakfast or until you brush your teeth.

Breakfast

5 each of blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and cherries
1 apple
1 pear
Organic live yoghurt
Handful of raw almonds
Chop up all the fruit, mix with the yoghurt and sprinkle with almonds.

Mid-morning snack

Drink your second glass of lemonade. Ten minutes later have a banana, plus a handful of sunflower or pumpkin seeds.

Lunch

As much mixed green bean or lentil salad as you like, dressed with lemon juice, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil. You can eat any kinds of beans and lentils, including red kidney, haricot, cannellini, butter, black eye and pinto beans and red, green and brown lentils.

Mid-afternoon snack

Drink your third glass of lemonade, then 10 minutes later have cucumber, radish and celery crudites, or a handful of raw unsalted nuts and dried fruit.

Dinner

Grilled fish with steamed vegetables (make sure you include onions). You can eat any vegetables you like, fresh or frozen, such as carrots, turnip, swede, sprouts, cabbage, peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn, leeks, courgettes, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumber, spring onions. You can also choose any of the following fresh fish: cod, plaice, mackerel, salmon, trout, haddock, tuna, prawns, Dover sole, red mullet, halibut, lemon sole. Make sure you sprinkle your fish with lemon juice before eating. (If you don't eat fish, substitute with soya beans or tofu and avocado.)
OR
Stir-fry a selection of vegetables such as bok choi, spring onions, mushrooms, bamboo shoots and bean sprouts in a little extra virgin olive oil with garlic, lemon juice, ginger and tofu pieces.

About two hours before bed

Have your glass of lemonade, this time with warm or hot water.

Just before you go to bed

Have a relaxing warm bath with aromatherapy oils. If you feel hungry after your bath try nibbling on some celery stalks as they are loaded with magnesium, which is a calming nutrient.

Try to be in bed before 10pm if you can. A good night's sleep is important for weight loss because lack of sleep disrupts hormones, triggering metabolic changes that mean you don't process food so well. There may also be a link between lack of sleep and increased appetite, so in the weeks and months ahead aim for quality sleep every night; between six and eight hours a night is considered optimum.

Fasting with Lemon Juice and Maple Syrup

Fasting with Lemon Juice and Maple SyrupFasting in various forms has been used for centuries in many cultures for its healthy and cleansing effects. Fasting has not been extensively researched, but when you regularly practice fasting you should expect weight reduction and unexpected improvements in psyche, joints, skin conditions, allergies and other improvement in your health.

Fasting is an important part of the naturopathic approach to helping the body heal itself. Fasting rests the digestive tract, permits detoxification, and stimulates the immune system to speed recovery. Naturopaths use fasting both for treating acute infections and for chronic conditions where congestion is a feature, to stimulate elimination, such as asthma, sinusitis, cholecystitis, skin conditions and colitis.

As with any fast, it is extremely important to start with motivation! Many people are choosing lemon detox diet simply to lose weight. As you know, the lemon detox is based on the madal bal tree syrup, rich in mineral content. The addition of water, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper aid the detoxification process.

Five Most Popular Detox Diets

Five most popular detox dietsLemon Detox Diet

Also known as the "The Master Cleanse" or "Maple Syrup Diet", the diet puts the body into a starvation mode in which fat cells are burned for energy. Toxins stored in fat cells are supposed to be released and flushed away. The main ingredients of the diet are lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Followers drink from six to 12 glasses of the mixture each day for 7-14 days, combined with a laxative tea in the evening. No solid food is allowed. After the cleanse, people are advised to slowly go back to normal eating, starting with vegetable soup and orange juice.

Martha's Vineyard Diet Detox

This diet is billed as a detox diet that also results in weight loss (21 pounds in 21 days). Dieters drink juice mixtures, protein shakes and vegetable purees, as well as herbal cleansing formulas and teas. They’re instructed to buy the recommended supplements and vitamins. Dieters are also advised to drink 64 ounces of distilled water daily. No solid food is allowed. In addition, colonics, coffee enemas and massages are recommended to flush out substances.

The Fruit Flush Diet

The plan promises up to 9 pounds of weight loss within 72 hours. The first day involves consuming a protein drink every two hours. Unlike water-based fasts that merely flush toxins out, the Fruit Flush claims to "feed your muscles and switch your body into a fat-burning mode." On following days, dieters eat 100 calories of fruit every two hours, with a large salad and a protein drink at dinnertime. For maximum benefit, dieters are instructed to follow the plan once a week for up to 12 weeks.

Fast Track One-Day Detox Diet

The Fast Track One-Day Detox Diet is a multi-part program for healthy living. It is low in calories and has a fairly aggressive laxative component, contributing to rapid weight loss. The fasting portion of the detox plan is just one day. Followers prepare for the fast with a weeklong diet of low-carb, high-protein foods and vegetables designed to prep the liver for the detox process. The daylong fast consists of sipping a "Miracle Juice" mixture of unsweetened cranberry, orange and lemon juice seasoned with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. The fast ends with several days of gradually adding foods intended to restore healthy bacteria in the colon. The diet is intended to improve the state of the liver and colon, leaving more of the body’s energy for healing and regenerating healthy cells.

Joshi Detox Diet

The goal of the Joshi diet is to return the body to its naturally alkaline state by altering the pH (acid/alkaline) balance in the body. The human body is healthiest in a slightly alkaline state because of improved digestion and disease protection. The diet avoids acidic, toxic and refined foods including red meat, dairy, fruit, wheat, nuts, sugar and sweets, potatoes, coffee and tea. For 21 days dieters eliminate acid-forming foods and eat from a fairly limited list of acceptable meats, brown rice, fish, produce and grains. Other recommended foods include poultry, certain cheeses, yogurt, dark green vegetables, soy, legumes and olive oil.

The diet claims it will reduce stress in the digestive system, allow the body to process food more efficiently and stop foods from being stored as fat.

Flush out toxins and burn fat naturally

A 10-DAY detox diet consisting of only lemon juice, water and tree sap syrup has soared in Australia, with more than 40,000 sales through the internet in the past six months. It has become a hot diet/cleansing treatment for Hollywood celebrities such as Angelina Jolie. The diet was designed by Hawaiian naturopath Stanley Burroughs 30 years ago. It involves drinking nothing more than a mixture of fresh lemon juice, cayenne, water and Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup for seven to 10 days.

The syrup is being sold through the internet for around $79 a bottle. The Australian distributor, Sydney-based Andre Saade, said the product is suitable even for children. The syrup is made from the sap of trees - one part maple, five parts south-east palm syrup, and tastes sweet and sour. The Lemon Detox Diet is an all-natural, simple and enjoyable means to obtaining a healthier body and a better quality of life. It is safe and effective, invigorating the body's own ability to cleanse itself of accumulated toxins and helps the body to normalize its weight.

Ideal Weight With A Detox Diet

Unless you live in the middle of the jungle, you breathe only pure air, eat only organic foods when you’re hungry; and that those foods provide the exact nutritional needs of your body; that you never experience any stress, worry or anxiety and you exercise every single day... chances are that you need to detox.

Just like the dust and crud that accumulates in your house calls for a yearly house cleaning - "toxins", extra weight and God knows what accumulate in your body. We all need to do a regular house-cleaning - and that means allowing your body a chance to heal itself, release the extra weight, release its toxins, and get a fresh new start. Your body has an amazing self-healing mechanism built right in it, but in order to let it work, you have to give it the rest it needs.

That’s why fasting has been a tradition part of many world’s religions, and almost every alternative health practice recommends some kind of fasting or "detox diet".

What Is a Detox Diet?

A "detox diet" has nothing to do with going to a rehab clinic for drug abuse. The word "detox" has been used in naturopathic circles in the sense of "removing toxins." A detox diet allows your body to clean itself of accumulated toxins, stress, and helps it release extra fat and weight.

A detox diet is a restricted diet that you follow, often combined with an exercise program, for a few days or a few weeks (or even longer). It is sort of like fasting, but it’s easier to do and you can do it at home when you need it.

Signs You Need to Detox

You should be able to know yourself when you need to go on a detox diet. If you’re looking at yourself in the mirror and don’t like what you see, you don’t like the extra weight you’ve been carrying around... then a detox diet can help you get back on track with a healthy diet and release the extra fat.

If you feel you do not have the energy you once had, or you’re starting to feel a little depressed... a detox diet can help you regain that energy and bring a new level of joy to your life.

If you experience aches and pains, or headaches, and cannot keep up with the stress of modern life, then it is very likely that a detox diet can help you feel young again, and give you the feeling that "nothing can stop you".

From having helped thousands of people go through all sorts of detox diets, I know that the rejuvenation it brings and the sense of accomplishment, on top of all the health results, is well worth the discipline it requires to do it.

Example of a Detox Diet

There are all sorts of detox diets you can choose from. One of all-time favorites is the Apple Diet. This involves eating only apples for breakfast, lunch and dinner, for one or several days. The good thing about apples is that they are easy to eat, they are low in sugar, and they contain a fiber that literally acts as a "broom" in your intestines. When you go on an Apple Diet, all you have to do is purchase the best organic apples you can find, and eat as many as you’d like 3 or 4 times a day.

Here are a few tips to make this work:

- If you have never done this before, only plan to go for the Apple Diet for a maximum of 3-4 days.

- Peel your apples beforehand. Even though the peel contains essential nutrients, it is also impossible to digest in most cases. Since you are going to be eating lots of apple, you don’t want to stress your digestion with too much fiber.

- Do not drink apple juice - even if it is freshly pressed. That would be too much sugar, even if it is natural. You want the natural sugar along with all of the vitamins, minerals and fiber in the whole apple.

- Also drink water, about one liter a day, to help eliminate the toxins.

- Instead of eating apples all day long, have 3-4 meals a day with 1-2 pounds of apples.

I recommend the Apple Diet, because the apple is the King of Fruits! Low-acidity apples are a good choice to do a raw food detox diet.

Get Support and Motivation

Although the concept of a detox diet is simple, most people have a hard time implementing it because of lack of motivation.

It is not complicated to eat only apples for 3 days, but it’s not easy either. On the first day, you will be craving your normal fare. By the second day, you’ll be dreaming about food. But if you stick around, after a few days, you will be experiencing the incredible "high", energy and lightness of beings that fasters experience - and the results will show.

You’ll start to release weight, your hunger for natural foods will come back, you’ll have energy to start an exercise program, you’ll feel better than ever... and when you’re ready to introduce other foods into your diet, you’ll be more likely to make the right choices.

But to get to that point, make sure you get enough support and motivation. Find someone who can help you do a detox diet with you, and get as much information and support as you can to succeed on your cleanse.

Learn to use the power of DETOX in your life... and you will start to regain the health and energy that is your birthright.

How to make the lemon detox drink

The Lemon Detox Diet is a drink consisting of the Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup, fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper and pure water.

• Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup - The most important ingredient. A combination of the purest South East Asian palm syrups and Canadian grade C maple syrup. The tree syrup gives us energy during the cleanse in the form of an easily digestible carbohydrate and the palm syrup adds a rich mineral content.

• Lemon Juice - Lemons have been used for thousands of years for their medicinal value. The acidity of the lemon juice has an alkalizing effect on the body helping it to break down fats and mucus. Lemon juice also adds a tremendous amount of antioxidants and vitamin C.

• Cayenne Pepper - Cayenne pepper is great metabolizer assisting with the cleansing effects of the lemon juice. Cayenne pepper adds a nice zing to the drink, but more importantly it also helps dissolve built up mucus. It adds heat to the system and thus stimulates circulation, helping the blood reach remote areas of the body, so important for effective cleansing and elimination. It is also a good source of Vitamin A and C.

• Pure water - The use of clean, pure water carries all of the other ingredients through the body, giving the body an internal bath and carries away all of the released wastes and toxins. It also keeps the body hydrated during the detox.

To make one glass of Natural Tree Syrup and Lemon Drink mix

• Two tablespoons (or 20 ml) of Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup.

• Two tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice (about half a lemon). Use fresh lemons, not lemon drink or concentrate.

• Half a pinch of cayenne pepper (adjust to taste).

Mix the ingredients and dilute with at least 250ml of hot or cold water.

If you prefer you can prepare one batch of Natural Tree Syrup and Lemon Drink to last for the whole day. For a 2 Litre batch (approx.7-8 glasses) add 140ml of Madal Bal Natural Tree Syrup, 3 ½ lemons and about 3 pinches of the Cayenne Pepper and dilute with water.

Drink as much as you like. Ideally 6 to 9 glasses a day or whenever you feel hungry.
The Lemon Detox Drink is liquid food, both nourishing and energizing. It provides the body with the required minerals and nutrients whilst on the programme. You may drink water in addition to the lemon detox drinks. Also you may drink peppermint tea from time to time. This acts as a nice change and supports the cleansing process. Do not eat any solid foods.
